Definition of hot melt paintings
Thermoplastic Road Marking Paint material is a 100% solid, environmental friendly, and for people safe compound containing binders, pigments, fillers, and glass beads that liquefy when heated. The glass beads provide sustained, bright nighttime reflectivity; the pigments provide color and opacity; the fillers (such as calcium carbonate) increase volume; and the binder, composed of plasticizers and resins, provides toughness, flexibility, and bond strength, while holding all components together.

Common problems with Thermoplastic road markings
✅Adhesion: Overall detachment, mostly due to improper construction; lack of asphalt on the detached surface indicates insufficient adhesion. Abrasion: The top is eroded by abrasives and weathering; insufficient thickness accelerates wear.
✅Scraping: Caused by snowplows; commonly seen at the leading edge of dashed lines; can be reduced through proper operation.
✅Cracking: Mostly due to road surface cracking or temperature stress; excessive cracking on new standards requires checking the material formulation.
✅Blistering: Pores exceeding 1/4 inch, caused by moisture, solvent residue, or improper primer application.
✅Thickness: Below the 2.3 mm standard, shortens lifespan; touch-up requires removing glass beads.
✅Reflectivity: Initial loss is due to improper glass bead embedding; performance degradation is related to the paint and glass beads.

Thermoplastic road marking paint consists of resin,EVA,PE wax ,fillers materials,glass bead and so on. It is powder condition at normal temperature,when heated to 180-200 degrees by hydraulic cylinder pre-heater, it will appears flow, use the road marking machine to scrape the paint to the road surface will form hard film,It has full line type,strong wearing resistance , Spray reflecting micro glass beads on the surface under construction, it has good reflecting effect at night , it is widely applied in highway and city road, According to the environment used and the different construction requirements,we can supply different types of paint for our customer option.


Core Requirements for Correct Application of Hot-Melt Road Markings
The failure of hot-melt road marking adhesion can be controlled through standardized construction. The core requirements are thorough on-site inspection and adherence to the following key aspects to ensure installation performance:
✅1、Marking Location: Apply directly to the lane lines, at least 5 cm away from the shoulder and construction joints. Avoid applying above the joints between the driving lane and shoulder, and longitudinal joints between lanes.
✅2、Equipment Management: Daily inspections ensure operability and compliance with specifications, maintaining cleanliness and freedom from residue buildup.
✅3、Material Control: Materials must be inspected and approved, bearing batch numbers and clear markings (resin type, application method).
✅4、Road Surface Conditions: The road surface must be clean, dust-free, and dry, with old markings, maintenance compounds, and accumulated debris removed. During construction, the air and road surface temperature should not be lower than 10°C. Work must be stopped if the road surface humidity is too high.
✅5、Air Temperature:Wind chill can affect the adhesion strength of the strip applicator when the air temperature drops below 18°C.
✅6、Primer Application:Use the primer approved by the paint manufacturer, apply according to the recommended coverage rate, and allow it to cure/evaporate before applying the markings.
